Rodrigo Romero – Environmental Designer,
LEED Green Associate, WELL AP

I am passionate about architectural design that meets the needs of the present and future generations. I believe design must be practical, thoughtful, and respectful. Practical because it needs to be functional and solve existing and future needs. Thoughtful of how to improve the lives of buildings’ users, their health, their habits, and their impact on society and the environment. Respectful of the site and the environment, present and future.

Architecture Experience

I am currently an AIT (Architect In Training) actively pursuing licensure in the State of California. I have worked in numerous Architecture projects, as an employee, a contract worker, and as a self-employed professional.

From 2001 to 2002, and from 2006 to 2008, I worked for Architect Mark D. Lyon, Inc. in La Jolla, CA. One of the top San Diego Architecture firms for high-end residential design. There, I worked on many large residential projects and was introduced to the fine craft of architectural detailing and to the intricacies (and satisfaction) of construction documents development and permit processing.

Between 2004 and 2011, I had my own residential design firm (Rodrigo Romero and Associates) and focused on sustainable design. Regardless of the project size, we always incorporated design strategies that reduced our projects environmental impact, such as maximizing natural lighting, natural ventilation, proper solar exposure, material reuse, non-toxic materials, xeriscaping, to name a few.

I have also worked as a contract Architectural Designer on many projects for Pablo Paredes AIA. Projects range from small remodels to high-end residential, business, commercial, and institutional buildings.
